Euneiis was the son of
Jason and
Hypsipyle, queen of Lemnos. His name seems to mean 'of the bed', from eune, 'bed'. Perhaps this is a favourable name for one born of a propitious marriage. (An echo of his name can be seen in the word 'eunuch', which
means 'one who guards the bedchamber', from eune and echo, 'to protect'.)
