Evenus was the son of
Ares by Demonice, a mortal
woman. He became the father of
Marpessa. There was
another Evenus who was the son of Selepus. He became king of Lyrnessus, near Troy. The name is fitting for a king or for one in authority since it means 'reining well' (no pun intended), from eu-, '
good' and henia, 'rein'.
