Lysianassa was the daughter of Epaphus. There was also another woman of the name who was the daughter of
Polybus (and possibly the wife of Talaüs). The name means 'lady (or
queen) who releases', from luo, 'to loose', 'release' and anassa, 'queen', 'lady'. This must be simply a favourable name, although Talaüs' wife 'released' (bore) a number of children (at least five).
