Who's Who in Classical Mythology
Hippocoon
Hippocoon was a king of Sparta. He was the son of
Oebalus
and the
Naiad
Batia. His name, doubtless a desirable one, means 'horse stable' - literally 'horse house' from hippos, 'horse' and oicos, 'house'.
