Ischepolis was a son of Alcathoüs and Evaechme. His propitious name means 'strong city', from ischys, 'strength' and polis, 'city'. This nicely complements the name of his brother, Callipolis ('beautiful city'). The city would have been the one (
Megara) of which their father was king.
