Medon was the name of several people, including the respective sons of Codrus, the last king of Athens, and of Oïleus, king of Locris. There was also a Medon who was a herald loyal to
Odysseus. The name means simply 'ruler' (medon), a fitting name for an heir to a throne or generally as a name of
good omen.
