Licymnius was the son of Electryon, king of Argos, and his slave-girl Midea. He married Amphitryon's daughter
Perimede, who bore him
Oeonus, Argeius and Melas. His name suggests 'sweet singer' (ligymnios), from ligys, 'sweet' and hymnos, 'hymn', 'song'. We are not told anything to support this, however, although there could be a lost myth of some kind.
