Mermerus, whether the son of Jason and Medea or their grandson, has a name that means 'care-laden' from mermera, 'care', 'trouble'. Perhaps one or both of them foresaw a tragedy or a defeat. Jason's son was murdered by his
mother, according to Apollodorus (according to Pausanias he was killed by a lioness). Either way, his life was doomed to a fateful end.
