Naucrate

Naucrate heads a short run of 'ship' names. Hers means 'ship power', from naus, 'ship' and cratos, 'strength', 'might'. There may be a historic reference here to the passing of sea power from Crete to Greece after the defeat of Minos in Sicily: Naucrate was one of Minos' slaves (and the mother of Icarus).
