Nereids

Nereids were sea nymphs, the fifty (sic) daughters of Nereus and his wife Doris. Among the better known were Thetis, whom both Zeus and Poseidon wanted to marry, Amphitrite, the wife of Poseidon, and Galatea. Their collective name of course derives from that of their father, so that we can similarly call them 'the wet ones'.
