Nicippe was the wife of
Sthenelus, the son of
Perseus and Andromeda, and she was the daughter of Pelops. To Sthenelus she bore Eurystheus, Alcyone and Medusa (not, of course, the Gorgon so named). Her name, as many 'horse' names, is a propitious one, in her case meaning 'conquering mare', from nice, 'victory' and hippos, 'horse', 'mare'.
