Peteüs

Peteüs was the son of Orneus and the father of Menestheus. Bearing in mind the ornithological name of his father (which see) we may perhaps suggest an origin for him in peteenos, 'able to fly', 'winged'.

Of young birds this meant 'fledged', which is even more appropriate for the son of Orneus. But there seems to be no other justification than this family connection for interpreting the two names in this birdlike way.
