Philoetius

Philoetius was the faithful cowherd of Odysseus in Ithaca. His name means 'friendly fate', from philia, 'love', 'friendship' and oitos, 'fate'. Philoetius was constantly loyal to his master and joined Eumaeüs, the swineherd, in support of Odysseus' battle with the suitors on his return from Troy.
