Philoctetes was the son of Poeas, king of the Malians, and Demonassa. He was a 'lover', too, and he greatly treasured a bow presented to him by Heracles.
He was thus a 'possession-lover', from phileo, 'to love' and ctetos, 'something that can be gained', 'held as property', 'possessed'. There is a Philoctetes in almost all of us.
