Phlogius

Phlogius was also 'fiery', and we know that he aided Heracles in his battle with the Amazons. He was the brother of Autolycus (not the thief but the son of Deïmachus). The change of vowel in his name does not affect the meaning, since phlox, genitive phlogos means 'flame', 'blaze'.

The flower phlox is so called for its 'flaming' colour - its name is an ancient one and can be traced back to Pliny (although this would not have been the flower as we know it today but some other plant).
