Pimplea was a nymph loved by Daphnis. She was abducted by pirates and taken as a slavegirl to Phrygia, where Daphnis found her. Here, with the help of Heracles, Daphnis won a contest against the king, Lityerses, and as a result the king was killed and Daphnis took his place with Pimplea as his queen. (Some accounts tell the same story with the nymph's name being Thalia.)
Pimplea to English ears sounds a mean name, but it is actually the opposite since it derives from pimplemi, 'to fill up', so that she is the 'filler-up', the 'satisfier'.
