Podargus

Podargus was one of the four savage horses of Diomedes that had to be captured by Heracles in his Eighth Labour (The Mares of Diomedes). The horse's name means 'bright foot' or 'swift foot', like that of the Harpy Podarge. Indeed, the name may have been borrowed from her.

The other three horses in this team were Lampon, Xanthus and Deinus. By what cannot be a mere coincidence, the horse named Xanthus that Poseidon gave to Peleus was the offspring of Podarge, together with its twin Balius.
