Telchines

Telchines were magicians who lived at lalysus, on the island of Rhodes. According to Diodorus they were children of Thalassa ('sea'). Greek grammarians derived their names from thelgo, 'to charm', but there is a chance that the name actually relates to the Tyrrhenians or Tyrsenians, the people who were later known as the Etruscans.
