Theronice, with Therophone, was the twin daughter of Dexamenus, king of Olenus. She married Cteatus, one of the Moliones. Her name seems to mean 'wild beast tamer', from ther, 'animal' and nice, 'victory'.

This would be intended metaphorically as a propitious or 'power' name rather than a literal one. The name of her sister has a similar sense, meaning 'animal slayer', from ther, 'animal' and phone, 'slaughter'.
