Zephyrus

Zephyrus was the god of the west wind, the only son of Astraeüs and Eos. According to some stories, he caused the death of Hyacinthus through jealousy of the beautiful boy's love for Apollo. His name may relate to zophos, 'darkness', 'west' (darkness comes from the west when the sun sets), just as Eurus (which see) means 'morning', 'east'.
