Thoas, meaning 'quick-moving', 'nimble', was the name of a number of characters including the son of Dionysus and Ariadne and his grandson (the son of Jason and Hypsipyle), the son of Andraemon and Gorge, and a giant who was the brother of Agrius. Its origin is in thoazo, 'to move quickly', 'hurry along'.
