Mulciber

Mulciber is a euphemistic name (or by-name) of Vulcan, used in the hope that he will not savagely ravage by fire but gently aid and caress. The name probably derives from Latin mulceo, 'to touch lightly', 'caress', and is used extensively by Ovid.
