Ornytion was the son of
Sisyphus and father of
Phocus. He was perhaps not so much connected with birds (ornis, 'bird') as being a 'rouser' or 'chaser', from ornymi or ornyo, 'to rouse', 'stir', 'cheer on'. This could be a descriptive name or a wishful one.
