Timandra was the daughter of
Tyndareüs. She married Echemus but left him for Phyleus. Her name reads rather ironically in view of this, since it means 'honoured by man', from timao, 'to honour' and aner, andros, 'man'. It is hardly any better if interpreted as 'honouring man'!
