Laertes

Laertes was the father of Odysseus, and himself was the son of Acrisius and Chalcomedusa (or Cephalus and Procris). His name apparently means 'people urger', from laos, 'people' and an old root er-, 'to urge on'. (His name appears in the Linear Β tablets at Knossos as Law-er-tas.)
