Polymele was the mistress of Hermes, to whom she bore Eudorus. Her mellifluous name means 'many songs', from polys, 'many' and melos, 'song'. She must have been a happy soul. She was married to Echecles ('fame possessor', from echo, 'to have', 'possess' and cleos, 'fame').
